Poppy Makes... a list of 10 DIY holiday gift ideas

Hej there and welcome or even welcome back to my blog! It is just a little over a week till Sinterklaasavond (Dutch holiday) and less than a month until Christmas. So you might really want to start thinking about what you are going to give to your loved ones. It is always difficult to buy gifts and making doesn't always work out. You see all of these cool DIY projects which might seem easy but lack explanation or isn't quite clear of what the next step should be... That is why I made a selection of DIY projects which I have posted here on my blog which are easy to follow because of the step by step video tutorial, some might even have FREE printables and they are super fun to make.

1. a Poppy from Trolls inspired felt headband

With this tutorial and the FREE printable pattern you will have a cute headband within no time. The headband is inspired by Poppy from the movie Trolls. She wears this awesome headband with these cute little flowers and any girl who loves Poppy will definitely love this DIY gift. The FREE printable pattern can be downloaded in PDF format and all you have to do is click here, download your own copy and you can get started on making your own Poppy inspired headband.  Don't forget to give the video a thumbs up, subscribe to my YouTube channel & have fun!

2. a Newt Scamander inspired house scarf

In this video tutorial I will show you how to make a Hufflepuff (yes, Newt was a Hufflepuff) inspired scarf. Even if you are planning to make this for a not Fantastic Beasts or harry Potter fan (I don't even know how that would be possible) a scarf is always a nice gift especially a handmade scarf. You could use different colours then the ones I am using and make it a Gryffindor, Ravenclaw or maybe a Slytherin inspired house scarf.  Don't forget to give the video a thumbs up, subscribe to my YouTube channel & have fun!

3. homemade chocolate bark with a festive twist

Chocolate is yum but it is even more delicious when you make your own chocolate with with your favourite (holiday related) sweets.  Chocolate bark is so very easy and fun to make and makes for a super fun DIY gift. All you need is some chocolate and some of your favourite sweets. In the video I will also show you how to wrap it up as a present, which is oh so simple but oh so cute.  Don't forget to give the video a thumbs up, subscribe to my YouTube channel & have fun!

4. a Harry Potter inspired kumihimo house bracelet

If you have a huge Harry Potter fan in your midst you might want to checkout this Harry Potter inspired kumihimo bracelet tutorial. Once you are done knitting the Newt Scamander inspired Hufflepuff (or any other house) scarf, this should be a piece of cake. In the tutorial I will show you step by step how to make a kumihimo bracelet and even if you don't have a kumihimo disk, I can help you out with that. You can click here to download a FREE printable Harry Potter inspired kumihimo disk and in the video below I will show you how to make your own kumihimo disk. The video is in Dutch but, is very easy to follow and if you need any further explanation come find me social media like Twitter & Instagram and I'll help you out.  Don't forget to give the video a thumbs up, subscribe to my YouTube channel & have fun!

5. a filled clear bauble

I have actually got 2 video tutorials with clear baubles. This is a DIY gift anyone can make. Even if you are not creative at all or disaster happens every time you are near glitter. All you need is a clear bauble a gift that would fit into the bauble or some (holiday related) sweets. The first video is more Christmas related and the second one is for that one person in your family who you can never give to much Harry Potter related gift and is inspired by Neville's remembrall.  Don't forget to give the video a thumbs up, subscribe to my YouTube channel & have fun!

6. a gift jar

This might seem odd, a Father's day video tutorial... But in the video I show you how to make a super cute gift jar with on top of the lid a Lego figurine glued to it. To make it more festive add a small Santa or more personal to the one your giving it to his/hers favourite comic figurine the possibilities are endless. Fill the jar with schuimpjes to give it a Sinterklaas twist or fill it with all green and red chocolates to give it more of a Christmas twist or just the persons favourite sweets. So this is not a gift only for dad's you can make it personal and give it to whoever you want.  Don't forget to give the video a thumbs up, subscribe to my YouTube channel & have fun!

7. more chocolate

After I have just suggested the Father's day video tutorial I can't ignore the Mother's day video tutorial. In this tutorial I will show you how to make really delish chocolate's. You can make all the chocolates I show you or just pick one. These will be a great hit to anyone you'll give them to, cause who doesn't love chocolate and they will be so pleasantly surprised you made them. Same goes here these aren't just for moms only. Use a different molde to make them more manly or use a different sort of sweets like maybe candy canes to give it a Christmas twist. Don't forget to give the video a thumbs up, subscribe to my YouTube channel & have fun!

8. an embroidery painting

Again two video's and one is again a Father's day tutorial. In these tutorials I show you how to embroider either a superman logo or a Minion's Face onto a canvas. It is a little time consuming but the results are really cute. These video tutorials both come with FREE printables. Click here to download the Superman logo and/or click here to download the Minon face. This would be the best gift for that person who just loves superman or adores the Minion like I do.  Don't forget to give the video a thumbs up, subscribe to my YouTube channel & have fun!

9. an evil crochet Minion

The title says it all... This is the tutorial if the embroidery Minion wasn't just enough. In the FREE printable pattern I'll explain you how to make this angry purple version of the normally (and even still) of so adorable yellow Minion. Click here to download the English pattern and click here for the Dutch pattern. Don't forget to give the video a thumbs up, subscribe to my YouTube channel & have fun!

10. a friendship bracelet with a heart pattern

This is the perfect gift to show someone you care. Whether you are giving it to a loved ones or you BFF, it will be loved. It is not that difficult to make and if you get the hang of it you might make a bracelet in under an hour. The video was posted as a Valentine's post but, who doesn't need a friendship bracelet with a heart pattern. To make it more personal use the favourite colours of the person you are giving it to.
